 Since 2021 when CLILworks began I have been giving  Content Language Intergrated Learning (CLIL) courses all over the Netherlands. My courses are dynamic, fun and extremely practical. They are specifically designed to the needs of the teachers and I enjoy developing new CLIL ideas to suit each school.  I help them understand what CLIL is and how CLIL can be included in their TTO lessons. The workshops can be a one off workshop, a series of workshops or even multi-day workshops on location.  I have also helped in schools with one on one lessons observations specifically observing CLIL and the English levels of the teachers. Teachers find this personal attention and feedback extremely useful in their development.

 I practice what I preach and my workshops are in themselves CLILY. Teachers learn more about CLIL whilst at the same time improving their own English.  Although my workshops are primarily for TTO teachers and are in English, I can also give my workshops in Dutch for schools wishing to help their teachers use more active and varied work forms in their lessons.

The didactics I use can be adapted directly so that the teachers can implement them in their own subject TTO or Dutch lessons in a relatively easy manner. 

I am realistic! I have been a head of a TTO department for many years, and am all too aware of the time constraints and pressures on teachers. I know we would like to all aim for the sky, but that isn’t always achievable. My workshops aim to (re)inspire teachers to implement CLIL into their teaching as simply as possible and in a way fits in with their teaching style by making the hurdles smaller, making CLIL achievable within the boundaries of every day school life.
Below you can read much of the feedback I have received from participants in my courses and from those who have organised the courses. I have also shared with you photos which will hopefully provide you with an impression of the dynamic quality of my workshops.

Onder de begeesterde leiding van Jackie de Waal heeft het hele TTO-team de CLIL-vibe weer hervonden! Jackie bezocht onze lessen, besprak deze na op didactiek en taal en op de terugkom-middag werden de vele valkuilen en blinde vlekken besproken die tto-docenten zo eigen kunnen worden. Vooral de vele hands-on tips en CLIL-voorbeelden spraken enorm aan.
Jackie bleek de investering meer dan waard want de commissie van het Nuffic complementeerde ons na het behalen van onze her-visitatie met het hoge CLIL-niveau en roemde het niveau van het team en de lessen.

De training van Jackie was super! Je kunt duidelijk zien dat Jackie veel ervaring heeft en dit ook goed kan overbrengen. De training wordt daarmee erg praktijkgericht en voor de docenten zijn veel opdrachten snel en praktisch inzetbaar. Jackie is enthousiast en dat gecombineerd met veel actieve korte werkvormen maakt dat de training door de deelnemers als er leuk en leerzaam werd ervaren. Ze heeft helemaal gelijk…  CLILWORKS!
